Ben Brough is a self-taught American artist working in painting, illustration and collage. From the Big Island’s Kona coast now living in Costa Mesa, California Ben’s work is a visual balance of “Debris meets the Sea”. From his minimalist collage work to his spectacular figurative abstract color filled paintings are a view into Ben’s wide range of media and both capture the significance of his Pacific and urban upbringings. He does what he wants and chooses to show us everything he’s into. With a take it or leave it attitude and a D.I.Y aesthetic he guides us through a narrative of surf and skate culture mixed with a cartoonists comedy and a visual slaughter of color and shapes.
Also working as a commercial artist Ben’s work has been seen widely throughout the action sports world within the last decade working for surf company giants such as Volcom , O’Neill and many others.
His art has been shown in Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Mexico, France, Spain, Belgium, England, Germany and the U.S.A…. As well as in AR4T Gallery, Curbside Gallery, Lab Miami, Metro Pictures, Nyehaus, Laguna Beach Art Museum, The Surf Gallery and The International Surfing Museum.
